In 2001, Richard Branson's Virgin Energy created Virgin Home - a fantastic
new product aimed at the domestic market covering the three major utilities
Gas, Electricity and Telephone. Crystal Power was approached by Virgin to setup
a sales programme to launch this exciting new project.
In April that year, 10 Crystal Agents began selling on behalf of Virgin in
Stockport, Manchester. After a successful trial period of 8 weeks, the sales
module created was proven correct and Crystal's Recruitment Team set about increasing
the Field Agent numbers to 90 at a rate of 10 Agents per month.
The success of this project was far beyond that expected and Virgin made the
decision to split the national coverage firstly into 4 different agencies and
then later into 10. This rapid expansion led about numerous compliance issues
and regulatory involvement. A complete overhaul by the MD of Virgin Energy to
tackle these difficulties led to every single agency excluding Crystal Power
having their contract terminated.
Due to the solid infrastructure put in place from the beginning and the commitment
to protecting the client's brand, Crystal proved once again to be one of the
UK's top Sales & Marketing Organisations.
Over an 11 months period, Crystal gained Virgin 75,000 new customers - far
surpassing the expectations and targets of both Virgin and all other agencies.
